Sayaka is manager of the Nippon Foundation Volunteer Support Center (also popularly known as “Volasapo”), which was established as an organization to carry out operations related to cooperation based on the agreement relating to cooperation in the area of volunteer activities for the Tokyo 2020 Olympic and Paralympic Games concluded between the Tokyo Organising Committee of the Olympic and Paralympic Games (Tokyo 2020) and the Nippon Foundation. Volasapo has supported to develop various training programs for the Tokyo 2020 Olympic and Paralympic Games volunteers and train volunteer trainers.
She graduated from the University of Wisconsin – La Cross and holds MS in Therapeutic Recreation and has been helping to enrich the lives of people with intellectual disabilities through leisure activities as her life work.
Special Olympics, which is the international sports organization for people with intellectual disabilities is one of the fields where she has been volunteering for more than 20 years. She has been training volunteer coaches as a National Trainer since 2009 and served as a member of Special Olympics Asia Pacific Football Advisory Committee (2014 – 2016) and Regional Unified Sports Advisory Committee (2016-2017).
